Exposure evaluation
Pre production
We had to learn how to use exposure and gain on the cameras to do this we were sent to do some filming testing out these features.
Production
During filming there were some issues figuring out how to use the new features as none of us had used them before. There were some issues with location as well as another group was in the area we were and we had to be careful to not get them in the shots. We managed to shoot most of the exposure types. What went well was that we got a lot of exposure types done before it started raining. The camera work we did do was good considering we had only learnt the basics about half an hour prior.
Post production
There were a lot of problems with editing as my work was not exported properly and my work was not playing properly so I had to go back to the computer I exported it from and had re exported it and also had to cut out bits we didn’t need as we did two of some certain exposure shots. The editing took a long time as I struggled using the software as I worked in part of a group editing the other film which was the normal shot types. I tried to do rolling credits but it wouldn’t let me export so I removed them and just went straight into the film. There was problems with the editing as only certain parts of the video were rendering.
What I would have changed
I would’ve changed the area we chose to film in as it was loud and prevented us from making better scenes then we did. Also if it didn’t rain in the spot we were in we could’ve filmed more shots and also to a better quality. We should have chosen just outside the block as there was covering and rain wouldn’t have been an issue as much ad we could have filmed more. The people I worked with were slightly unorganised at the start but then we worked harder but it would’ve been ideal with the same mind set throughout. This would have hanged the outcome as then more work and better quality video could have been done.
Overall this assignment was fairly easy to do but there were equipment issues and people not knowing how to use the features this was an issue when it came to filming as some segments were faster to film than others.
