Horror film evaluation

Pre-production:

I was the director for my film, my group consisted of dainah brown, Ryan Galileo and Reece Austin to start off with we had an idea for a short horror film. It was just a first person horror film which would be under two minutes. After some planning we were told to change our whole idea and to add character development. Also we were told to add a better story which would push us up to our estimated time for our film; which was four minutes. When it came to our pitch we were told a lot which we had to change, so we decided to scrap the whole idea as it was more of a feature film rather than a short one. The new idea we had was for isolation. This was a much shorter, simpler concept .it was less complex than the other ideas and it was within our abilities to plan and film it. The plot is that Reece a student is alone in college and is being chased by a spirit.

Production:

We started our first day of production and we went in knowing what we were doing. We had an issue with our actor as we had to wait for a long time for him to come. Eventually after some test shots with Reece which were good we used Reece instead. We used Ryan as our other character the spirit as he had all black clothing and it was ideal for what we needed. The second day of filming was short as we all had things to do later on in the day but we filmed a lot of shots which we very easy to shoot and we were a majority through the storyline. The third day was the last day where we finished filming and looked at the shots and decided to do any re shots the next day. The final day was a Thursday, one day before the film was due and; we started to edit and make the posters for our film.

Editing/post production:

In post-production we had a lot of shots and we had a lot of editing to do. We all had a go at the editing with the editor who was Ryan and Reece doing most of it as that was the role which they were given. The posters were designed and were put up early as we had finished them. In the individual edit I added a purple filter as I tried using black and white or sepia but they looked bad with it. Whereas the group edit had music I decided to make it silent as it added more effect and it made it better.
