Zombie evaluation
Pre-production:
For our task we had to work with the drama and beauty departments to make a short zombie chase scene on the roundabout near the college. We worked in the groups we were for horror films. We stuck with the same or similar roles. My role was director.
Production:
We had an hour to film the zombie chase scene this was a tight deadline as we nearly run out of time as we had so many shots and too much on the storyboard. We had to time when we filmed as there were a lot of pedestrians and cars which kept coming into shot. The crew was organised and we managed to get some shots first take. Others on the other hand took multiple attempts as actors were laughing or asking what to do whilst we filmed. It was hard to film a lot of the shots as some of the lighting wasn’t good enough in the place we were assigned. My crew was very good and followed the script and storyboard without needing guidance. There was a lot of background noise which made it hard to film at some points as dialogue could not be heard. When we used zombie sounds we made all of the actors make noises into the boom mic which we had to the side of the camera and although we used it at the side we did not get it in shot.
Post production:
A lot of the scenes we shot before weren’t as good as we though they were so we cut them out but this caused the story to not make much sense. So when we got our feedback and had to do our individual edits I moved the clips around to make a structured storyline which made sense and cut out some errors and some couldn’t be avoided like camera equipment in sight. We for our final group edit we will choose the best edit out of the group and whoever’s looks the best will be assessed alongside with our individual ones.
